Community volunteer event at Cherry Park advances a lasting environmental legacy for Los Angeles ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
WHAT:
Delta Air Lines, TreePeople and LA28 volunteers will come together at Cherry Park to plant, care for and distribute trees as part of a shared commitment to create cooler, greener communities across Los Angeles ahead of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The event celebrates the planting of the 250th tree in Delta and TreePeople's commitment to plant 1,000 trees across Los Angeles before the 2028 Games, creating a lasting community legacy through expanded urban canopy, increased shade and access to green space. At the event, volunteers will plant shade trees throughout Cherry Park and help distribute free fruit trees to local residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
The effort also contributes to TreePeople's Rooting for LA initiative, which aims to plant and steward 28,000 trees across the region by 2028. Rooting for LA was launched with support from Delta as part of the airline's commitment to creating positive community impact on the road to LA28.
